Committal Hearing
Before a case moves to the higher courts it is usually possible to test the evidence in the Magistrates Court. This is called a Committal Hearing.
Committals are an important opportunity for the defence. It is often possible to destroy the prosecution case here, or at least expose serious weaknesses in the prosecution case.
Just as at a trial, the key to success at Committal is early and thorough preparation.
